Children can be susceptible to dental concerns if oral care habits aren’t ingrained early on. Dentists recommend bringing your child to their first dental visit by the time they turn one or within six months of their first tooth erupting.
At Caroline Springs Dental, we encourage a family friendly environment that welcomes patients of all ages. We’re here to help you and your family develop a positive attitude towards dental health.
Understanding the importance of early dental care is crucial for setting a foundation for optimal oral health as your child grows. Here are some strategies to support your child’s oral well-being from an early age:
Encourage a good dental routine: As soon as your child begins exhibiting basic coordination skills, it’s time to start them brushing. Make sure you help them until they can do it themselves competently.
Encourage healthy eating: A healthy smile needs a healthy diet.
Start visiting the dentist regularly: Promoting a positive attitude towards dental visits can help encourage regular dental care, which is beneficial for your child’s dental health.
Routine dental check-ups: Routine dental examinations and oral health assessments from infancy to teenage can help identify potential issues early on.
WHY EARLY DENTAL CARE MATTERS
Routine dental check-ups from infancy through to the teenage years are important for monitoring growth and identifying potential concerns early, supporting long-term oral health. We understand that children may feel apprehensive about visiting the dentist.
Our team helps create a relaxed atmosphere, explaining procedures in simple terms, and providing the extra time needed to ensure your child feels secure and comfortable during their appointment.
DENTAL CHECK-UPS
We offer comprehensive dental examinations and oral health assessments for children of all ages, focusing on monitoring growth and supporting long-term oral health.
Our practice is also informed about the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) and can assist in determining eligibility for this program.
We provide Angel Aligner, an invisible orthodontic treatment, to help correct malocclusion and work with local orthodontists to get a desired outcome for your child’s growing dentition.
CUSTOM MOUTHGUARDS
We recognise the important role competitive sports play in the lives of children. However, dental injuries can be a common occurrence during contact activities. Custom mouthguards are designed to help provide protection against dental injuries, though no mouthguard can prevent all types of injuries.
Depending on your need, you may be recommended one of three levels of custom mouth guards.
SINGLE LAMINATE – Suitable for ages 5-12, these are a single layer mouth guard and may offer protection for low to medium impact sports.
DOUBLE LAMINATE – These may be recommended for medium to high impact sports which require a professional level of protection. Double laminate mouth guards may bey recommended for ages 13 and above.
BOXING OR FIGHTING GUARDS – Considered suitable for ages 13 and above, these are mouth guards designed to offer 3 layers of retention and protection, usually against extreme impact.
To Note: Any dental procedure carries risks which also may depend on your general health. This will be discussed with you prior to any dental intervention. Before proceeding you should seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner such as your dentist or your doctor.
